The police arrested six members of a fraud gang for allegedly stealing 9 lakh rupees by handing over a paper wrapped in a towel, talking about Saudi Riyal.
The arrested are Liaquat (35), Miraj Talukder (50), Ahad Sheikh (58), Haider Mridha (57), Mofizul Mia (35) and Imarat Mollake (61).
Among them, Liaquat was arrested on May 21 and the rest were arrested from different areas of the capital on Thursday night, said Mohammad Shahidullah, Deputy Commissioner of Gulshan Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
He said, this gang was stealing lakhs of rupees from people by showing currency of other countries. Recently, an elderly doctor named Mahbubul Alam lost Tk 9 lakh after being cheated by this gang.
