AC Milan got half the job done by winning at home. The traditional Italian club reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League after a decade, avoiding defeat at Tottenham Hotspur in the return leg. However, Stefano Pioli does not want to be overwhelmed by that joy. Now the Milan coach is painting a picture of winning the title.
Milan were held to a goalless draw at Tottenham on Wednesday night in the return leg of the last sixteen. A 1-0 first leg win took them into the last eight of Europe’s top competition for the first time since 2012.
Milan has the second highest record of winning the Champions League seven times. However, after 2007, they did not taste the title again. After reaching the last eight, the scope of Pioli’s dreams has increased.
