Voter turnout is low in Ukil Sattar’s seat, Asif is also ‘not to be found’

Along with this, 17 executive magistrates and two judicial magistrates are also in the polling field. Voting will continue till 4.30 pm in this seat of 3 lakh 73 thousand 319 voters.

Candidates in the election – Jatiya Party Md. Abdul Hamid, Zaker Party’s Zahirul Islam Jewel, independent candidate. Ziaul Haque Mridha, Abdus Sattar Bhuya (Advocate Abdus Sattar), Abu Asif Ahmed.

Although the Awami League did not participate in the polls, the activists are supporting the five-time MP Ukil Sattar, who won each time with a grain of rice.

On December 11, Sattar also resigned like other BNP parliamentarians as part of the movement demanding an election-time caretaker government. However, he severed ties with the party to stand for the by-election in the vacant seat.

His main rival is thought to be the former president of Ashuganj Upazila BNP, Asif, whose whereabouts were not found even on the day of polling.
