Former professor of Chittagong University Mohammad Abdur Rashid died after being hit by a train in Dhaka’s Uttara.
Police said that the accident happened on Tuesday night.
69-year-old Abdur Rashid was the chairman of the political science department of Chittagong University. He was also the Dean of the Open University. He lived in Sector 6 of Uttara.
SI Kamrul Hasan, in-charge of Railway Police Airport Station Outpost, said that Professor Rashid was hit by a train in Uttara No. 8 Rail Gate area around 10:30 on Tuesday night.
He said there was a market bag with Professor Rashid. Perhaps he was returning home after shopping.
Relatives told the police that Prof. Rashid’s wife and children live in Canada.
The police recovered his identity from the visiting card with Professor Rashid.
