With this match, Afif’s journey to franchise T20 outside the country begins. He scored 54 runs off 35 balls in Jaffna Kings jersey against Galle Gladiators at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday. He finished his debut innings in LPL with 5 fours and 1 six.
After seeing fifty in the first match, the 23-year-old cricketer expressed his feelings at the innings break.
“After being called up to the LPL, I was thrilled to get on the field. I am very happy to score a fifty in the first match. I have played in BPL with many of my teammates. It’s nice to play with them.”
After winning the toss, Jaffna scored 170 for 8 thanks to Afif’s fifty. Sadira Samaravikram scored 32 runs and captain Thisara Perera’s 26-run innings came from 13 balls.
