Train blocked at Joydevpur Junction for 10-point demand


The 10-point demands of the protestors include re-introduction of monthly ticketing system, suspension of inter-city trains at Tejgaon station including Joydevpur and Tongi junction, increase in number of coaches and seats of Turag and Tangail commuter trains, operation of Joydevpur-Tongi double line and Gazipur-Dhaka-Narayanganj train, Joydevpur Development of stations and elimination of railgate problems.

Engineer Samsul Haque Khan, president of Gazipur Heritage and Development Organization, said, “There have been several discussions with the senior officials of the railway administration and the railway minister for a long time to solve the problems. Every time a solution has been promised but it has not been implemented yet. So the demands have been conveyed with a peaceful stance.”

Two other organizations namely Uttarbanga Kalyan Samiti and Purvanchal Oikya Parishad expressed their solidarity in the programme.
