The victim’s family claimed that Lata described the incident to the police in a state of burn before she died.
Doctors at the hospital said that about 65 percent of the woman’s body was burnt.
OC Shah Zaman told bdnews24.com that the victim was rescued on Monday night from the side of Shubhadhya Chitakhola soap factory and admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. He died on Tuesday night while undergoing treatment there. The body has been kept at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
When asked whether the woman was raped or not before she was cremated, the OC said, “I cannot say that, the doctor will tell.” However, this can also be confirmed if the post-mortem report is received.”
The police officer said that the investigation in the case is going on and the police are trying to arrest the accused.
