“He was first sent to Gobindganj Upazila Health Complex and later to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. He died before reaching there around 9:30 pm.”
The OC said that one person was detained for questioning and the knife used in the murder was found abandoned in front of the mosque. The incident is being investigated. Preparations are underway to file a case on behalf of the relatives.
The body has been sent to Gaibandha General Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
He said that the police have detained a person named Abdul Momin for questioning in this incident. On Monday night, the police arrested the man after seeing the movement in the CCTV footage of various shops in the market.
The detained Momin is the cousin of the deceased and an employee of his shop, police said.
Momin’s house is in Mirapara village of neighboring Shalmara union. He is the son of Abdul Khalek of that village.
